Terms & Conditions
Last updated 25 July 2026
These terms apply when you use this website to order from Vas and Son, Vas Mahal, Bendore Circle, Mangalore. Using the site means you accept them.
Who you are buying from
Vas and Son, trading as Vas Bakery, Vas Mahal, Bendore Circle, Mangalore, Karnataka 575002. Registered business name: [to be confirmed]. GSTIN: [to be confirmed]. We have baked in Mangalore since 1905, and the shop you are ordering from is the same one.
Placing an order is a request, not a confirmed sale
When you send your basket, it reaches us as a message on WhatsApp. Your order is confirmed only when someone from the bakery replies to you. Until then nothing is reserved. We may decline or adjust an order — most often because something has sold out, or a delivery address is outside the area we can reach.
Prices and availability
Prices are shown in Indian Rupees, per piece or per kilogram as marked, and are re-checked against our records when your order is placed, so the price you are told is the current one. Prices can change without notice. Items sell out through the day; anything marked sold out cannot be ordered until the next bake. If an obvious pricing error appears, we will tell you before confirming rather than hold you to it.
The photographs on this site
Photographs are there to show you the kind of thing we make. Everything is baked and finished by hand, so the item you receive will not be identical to the picture — decoration, colour and size vary between batches, and a cake made for you is made for you. If exactly how something looks matters, tell us on WhatsApp before you order and we will send you a photograph of the real thing.
Payment
There is no payment gateway on this website — you never enter a card number, UPI PIN or bank detail into it. Anyone asking you to do so on a page claiming to be ours is not us.
You pay the bakery directly: in cash, by card at the counter, or by UPI, when you collect or when we deliver. For custom cakes and larger orders we may ask for part or all of it in advance, usually through a UPI QR code shown to you or sent on WhatsApp — that payment goes through your own UPI app, straight to the bakery. An advance secures the date; if you cancel after we have started, we may not be able to return it, and we will tell you honestly where we stand.
Custom cakes
A custom cake is a quote, not a priced product. You tell us the occasion, rough size and date, and we reply on WhatsApp with a price. It is booked only once you accept that price and we confirm it. We ask for a minimum period of notice, shown on the custom cake page, because the cake is made from scratch — during festival weeks we may need longer, or may be fully booked.
Collection and delivery
Collection is from the shop during opening hours. Where delivery is offered, any charge is shown before you place the order, and delivery times are our best estimate rather than a guarantee. Please give a phone number you will answer — an order we cannot confirm is an order we cannot bake.
We deliver within [areas to be confirmed], and the charge is [to be confirmed]. If your address falls outside that, we will say so when we reply rather than let you wait. You can always collect from the shop instead.
Changes, cancellation and refunds
Tell us as soon as possible on WhatsApp. We will do what we can, but a cake already made, iced or written on cannot be undone. Fresh food cannot be returned once it has left the shop, for the obvious reason.
If you paid an advance: we expect to refund it in full if you cancel more than [to be confirmed] before the date, and after that only in part or not at all, because by then the ingredients are bought and the work has usually started. Until that period is settled here, we will deal with it in conversation and fairly — ask us and we will tell you where you stand before you pay anything.
If something we sold you is genuinely wrong — the wrong item, or not in good condition — tell us the same day and we will replace it or refund it. That is your right under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and we are not looking to argue about it.
Allergens — please read
Everything is baked in one kitchen. Our products contain, or may come into contact with, wheat, milk, eggs, nuts and soya, and we prepare vegetarian, egg and meat items in the same premises. We cannot guarantee that any item is free of a given allergen. If you have an allergy, please speak to us directly before ordering rather than relying on the description on this site.
The content on this site
The photographs, text, recipes and the family history on this website belong to Vas and Son. The archive photographs in particular are family property. Please do not reproduce them commercially without asking.
Our responsibility
We take care that the site is accurate and available, but we cannot promise it is free of errors or never offline. Nothing here limits your rights under Indian consumer law, or our responsibility for the food we sell you.
If you want to complain
Speak to us first — most things are sorted in one message. Our point of contact for complaints is [name to be confirmed], at vsons@yahoo.com or +91 91641 94690, and we aim to reply within [to be confirmed] days. If we cannot settle it between us, you can approach the consumer forum in Mangalore.
Getting in touch, and where these terms apply
Write to vsons@yahoo.com or call +91 91641 94690. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes fall to the courts of Mangalore, Karnataka. See also our Privacy Policy.
We may update these terms as the bakery and the website change. The date at the top always says when they last changed, and the version you agreed to is the one in force when you placed your order.
